These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the 4Drive Romania booking platform and the rental of vehicles through local rental companies in Romania. By completing a booking, you accept these terms in full.
4Drive Romania operates a booking platform connecting customers with local rental companies across Romania. We facilitate reservations for a range of vehicles, including 4x4 models, SUVs, and standard cars. The actual rental agreement is concluded directly between you and the local rental company at the point of vehicle collection. These Terms and Conditions apply to the booking process and our role as facilitator; the rental company's own terms apply to the use of the vehicle itself.
Each rental company sets its own policies regarding vehicle condition, permitted usage, and damage procedures. Details specific to your booking, including the rental company contact information, are provided in your voucher after payment.
When you complete a booking on our platform, you receive a voucher confirming your reservation. This voucher is not the rental agreement. The binding rental agreement is signed when you collect the vehicle from the local rental company, either at their counter, at an airport terminal, or via delivery to your hotel, depending on the company and location.
The rental agreement specifies the vehicle, rental period, permitted drivers, mileage limits if any, and the condition of the vehicle at handover. Any existing damage must be documented in this agreement at collection. You are responsible for verifying these details before driving away.
Contact details for the rental company handling your booking are included in your voucher. Direct communication with them is required for any changes to collection time or location after booking.
When booking through 4Drive Romania, you pay an advance online by debit or credit card. This advance secures your reservation. Cash payments are not accepted online. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle.
The method accepted for the balance payment depends on the specific vehicle and rental company. Options may include debit card, credit card, or cash. The accepted payment methods for your booking are stated during the booking process and confirmed in your voucher. If you do not have a credit card and the rental company requires one, consider raising the limit on your debit card before travel.
Payment requirements vary by vehicle, not by class. Always check the details for your chosen vehicle before confirming your booking.
Most rental companies require a deposit, which is a temporary hold placed on your card at collection. This deposit covers potential damage or additional charges. The amount and the type of card required differ depending on the specific vehicle you book.
Some vehicles are available without a deposit requirement. The absence of a deposit does not affect the excess liability or damage coverage. These are separate terms set by the rental company. Deposit details, including the amount and card type, are clearly shown for each vehicle during booking and are confirmed in your voucher.
The deposit is released after the vehicle is returned and inspected by the rental company, typically within a few days to two weeks depending on your card issuer.
The person collecting the vehicle must present a valid driving licence at the point of collection. Foreign driving licences are valid in Romania for up to 90 days. An International Driving Permit is not mandatory but is recommended if your licence is not in the Latin alphabet.
Additional drivers can be added for a fee, which is arranged at collection. Each driver must meet the rental company's age and licence requirements. All drivers must be named in the rental agreement.
You must also provide a payment card and identification as specified by the rental company. Requirements vary, so consult your voucher before collection.
The vehicle must be used in accordance with Romanian traffic laws. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, 100 km/h on expressways, and 130 km/h on motorways. Right-hand traffic applies throughout Romania.
Motorway vignette, known locally as Rovinieta, is required for use of national roads and motorways. This can be purchased online or at border crossings. Many rental companies offer this as an optional paid service at booking or collection.
Cross-border travel into Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Moldova requires written permission from the rental company, arranged in advance. Unauthorised cross-border travel may void your coverage and result in penalties. If you plan to leave Romania, notify us at booking or contact the rental company before departure.
Vehicles are not permitted on unmaintained tracks unless specified as suitable for off-road use. Damage caused by misuse or breach of the rental agreement is your responsibility.
Changes to your booking, including dates, collection location, or vehicle type, are subject to availability and may incur fees. Contact us via [email protected] as soon as possible if you need to modify your reservation.
Cancellation terms vary depending on how far in advance you cancel. Standard terms allow cancellation up to a certain number of days before collection with a refund of the advance, minus any administrative fees. Cancellations made closer to the collection date may result in partial or full forfeiture of the advance. Specific cancellation terms for your booking are provided at the time of reservation.
No-shows result in forfeiture of all payments. If you cannot collect the vehicle, notify us and the rental company as early as possible.
4Drive Romania acts as a booking facilitator. We are not responsible for the condition, performance, or availability of vehicles provided by local rental companies. Our liability is limited to facilitating the booking process and providing accurate information based on details supplied by rental partners.
The rental company is responsible for the vehicle, insurance coverage, roadside assistance, and all aspects of the rental agreement. Any claims related to vehicle defects, accidents, or service quality must be directed to the rental company in the first instance.
We are not liable for indirect losses, including travel disruption, accommodation costs, or missed activities resulting from vehicle unavailability or defects. Our maximum liability is limited to the advance payment made for the booking.
If you experience issues with your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details in your voucher. Most problems can be resolved quickly through direct communication.
If the issue remains unresolved or you wish to raise a formal complaint about our booking service, email us at [email protected] with your booking reference, details of the problem, and any supporting documents or photographs. We will respond within five working days.
Complaints about vehicle condition, damage disputes, or charges applied by the rental company should be directed to that company first. We can assist in facilitating communication but cannot override their policies or decisions.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Romania. Any disputes arising from your use of the 4Drive Romania platform or your booking are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Romania.
The rental agreement you sign with the local rental company is a separate contract, also governed by Romanian law. That agreement and any disputes under it are between you and the rental company.
